We are a 100% Bolivian-owned business and have 6 full and part time employees at our 2 stores in Copacabana and Cochabamba. We are proud to specialize in over 30 languages including textbooks and literature in indigenous languages of the region such as Quechua and Aymará.  We provide a range of services from gear rental and luggage storage to book exchange and book borrowing like a library.

Values

The Spitting Llama Bookstore & Outfitter is a family-owned business that strives to improve Bolivia's social environment and ecology. We embrace all cultures and promote literacy and learning of both foreign languages and Bolivia's indigenous languages. We strive to be a resource for locals and foreigners seeking education on Bolivia's magnificent cultures and environment.

Copacabana: our staff teach three english classes to local children for free in collaboration with The Cupula Hotel. In these classes we also teach about the environment and public health.

La Paz: We are developing a community outreach program and reading group.

In our stores we strive to offer high quality products made by local Bolivian people and companies as well as foreign-made goods. We support Bolivian authors, photographers and poets by carrying and promoting their works.
