About Us : Vision

The Spitting Llama Bookstore and Outfitter promotes socially and environmentally responsible travel by providing information on Bolivian & South American cultures, history, ethnicity, politics, and ecology. We promote cultural understanding and interactions by providing a meeting place and information swap unlike any other in the region. By helping link travelers with responsible volunteer, tourism, work and learning opportunities, we hope to improve life for Bolivians and foreigners alike. 

    So lets be concrete:

• We donate 10% of our profits to local schools and charities. We do this because we want help create sustainable development and because we believe our customers wish to support worthy causes with their purchases.

• Many of our products such as clothing are handmade here in Cochabamba, ensuring local producers a fair price.

• We will become a carbon neutral business by 2010. We will do this by donating to carbon sequestering activities such as Amazonian preservation, energy efficiency, embracing FSC and other environmental certification standards in the products we sell, and renewable energy generation at our store.

• We will produce 100% more energy than we use by 2013.
